Q: Do I have to take one program each year or can I complete them more quickly?
A: The only requirement is to complete four programs* within a 4 to 6-year period. Some Certificate recipients have completed their program in less than a year.
Q: What programs are eligible?
A: Any Wharton open enrollment* executive education program counts toward your Certificate of Professional Development. This includes programs through the Wharton INSEAD Alliance and the Directors’ Consortium, regardless of where the classes are held.
Q: Do I need to “apply” for the Certificate?
A: No. Once you complete your fourth program in the designated period, you will automatically be recognized while at Wharton.
Q: Is there an added cost?
A: There is no additional cost beyond the individual program tuition.
Q: Will I receive Wharton alumni status?
While alumni status is granted to individuals who complete our Advanced Management Program, CPD recipients do not receive Wharton alumni status.
Q: If I attend a 2-week program, does that count for two courses?
A: The four program minimum is based on number, not length, so a two-week program counts as a single program credit toward your CPD.
Q: I attended a Wharton custom program sponsored by my company. Would the custom program count towards my CPD?
A: Many organization-sponsored programs count toward your CPD. You'll need to contact us directly for specific information.
Q: Do you offer guidance in designing a Certificate program?
A: One of our course consultants would be happy to discuss your educational needs and select an appropriate set of programs to meet them.
Q: Is it possible to concentrate my Certificate in a specific area such as marketing?
A: We have kept the design of the Certificate as open as possible to meet the diverse needs of managers who attend. Every CPD track is tailored to the individual needs of the student. If you would like to pursue a more concentrated course of study around a specific discipline or theme, we’d be happy to work with you to recognize this program with a customized Certificate of Professional Development.
