The When-You're-Not-At-Wharton Guide To Philadelphia
National Geographic Traveler hails Philadelphia as the “Next Great City.” The fourth largest city in the United States has it all: history, culture, sports, dining, and entertainment. Although your Wharton Executive Education program will keep you busy most of the time you’re in town, take advantage of your location by exploring the best Philadelphia has to offer, including:
- Old City, which features Independence Hall, the Liberty Bell, Franklin Court — an imaginative tribute to Philadelphia’s unofficial patron saint, Ben Franklin — and the United States Mint, the largest in the world.
- The Philadelphia Museum of Art, housing outstanding permanent collections and many of the country’s top traveling exhibits. On Friday nights, they’ve got live jazz in the Great Hall.
- Sporting events with Philadelphia teams such as the Eagles, Phillies, 76ers, and Flyers, whose stadiums and arenas are easy to get to from Wharton.
- The Bucks County Wine Trail, home to eight of the area’s wineries.
- City restaurants, which are a study in diversity: everything from authentic, high-end French at Le Bec Fin to burgers and a round of darts at the Standard Tap. Don’t miss the ubiquitous cheesesteak, either. Both Geno’s Steaks and Pat’s King of Steaks claim to have invented it, but there are many places to sample the local staple.
Plan your stay with Wharton in Philadelphia.
