Entrepreneurship Certificate Program

The Entrepreneurship Certificate Program offers a top-level introduction to the fundamentals of management and entrepreneurship at one of the world’s leading business schools to those who own and run small-to medium-sized businesses.

This program is being offered in partnership with Wharton Entrepreneurial Programs (WEP). WEP is part of Wharton’s Management Department and is widely considered one of the most influential centers for entrepreneurship in the world.

The Entrepreneurship Certificate helps individuals who are creating or building new businesses learn the essentials of business and venture initiation. Students will study management essentials and will have the option to select additional coursework in their particular areas of interest, including marketing, human resource management, accounting, and finance. The program, designed for working professionals who have not formally studied business, emphasizes the application of classroom concepts to practical decision making in the workplace.

Courses are held in the evenings in state-of-the-art teaching facilities at Jon M. Huntsman Hall on the University of Pennsylvania campus in Philadelphia. During the spring and fall, classes meet one evening a week. Summer classes meet two evenings per week.

Curriculum Structure

The Entrepreneurship Certificate Program consists of six courses that span the business disciplines:

Optional Workshops (for students who qualify): In addition to the listed courses, the program includes two workshops at the Wharton Small Business Development Center. These action-oriented, supplemental workshops are taught in the evenings.

During the fall and spring semesters, classes meet one evening per week, and participants may take one or two courses. In the summer sessions, classes meet two evenings per week, and participants may enroll in one class per session. The certificate can be completed in as little as three regular semesters or in two regular semesters and two summer sessions. All courses earn graded, post-baccalaureate credits from the University of Pennsylvania.

Courses are taught by Wharton professors and industry executives who are appointed for their subject expertise, teaching skills, and ability to offer networking opportunities to participants.
